EXCHANGE TEACHER ALUMNI Alberto Ramirez

Home Country: Colombia
Host School: International College Preparatory Academy, Cincinnati, Ohio
Years of Participation: 2003 to 2006

A Nice Experience Called Amity
My name is Alberto Ramirez. I am an exchange teacher from Colombia. I taught Spanish for three years at ICPA (International College Preparatory Academy) in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Being an exchange teacher was a wonderful experience for me because I was able to share my language and culture. At the same time I learned from American culture and grew both personally and professionally.

The first months at school were a real challenge for me. The teaching system and the language were factors that made things difficult, but I was able to overcome them and in time things became easier. My second and third year showed me that I was indeed born to be a teacher. The school and my students demonstrated to me that things can be possible when we try and give our best.

Now, that I have finished this assignment as an exchange teacher my plans are to go back to Colombia and show what I have learned being abroad. Thank you, Amity. You have all helped me reach my dreams.
