EXCHANGE TEACHER HOST SCHOOL INFORMATION

Welcome to the Amity Institute Exchange Teacher program. The Exchange Teacher program is dedicated to promoting knowledge and cultural understanding, a mission shared by all participants. Designated by the US State Department as a legal J-1 visa sponsor under the Exchange Visitor Program, Amity has developed from a small personal exchange of eight students into an organization that encompasses hundreds of participants a year.

The J-1 Exchange Visitor visa category is used for participants of international exchange programs in all fields. Exchange Visitors come to the US to share knowledge and gain a deeper understanding of US systems and culture.

Amity Exchange Teachers are primary or secondary educators who work at US schools as full faculty members. Exchange Teachers can not act as substitute teachers, but must teach subject or grade level curriculum. Teachers may be sponsored on a J-1 visa for up to three years. At the end of the assignment, Amity educators must return home to share the knowledge and experience they have gained.

Three Year Maximum Visit

Exchange Teachers are sponsored on J-1 visas for up to three years. At the end of this term, Exchange Teachers and any dependents are expected to return to their home country to share their newfound knowledge and experience.
Amity does not support any type of waiver, change of visa status or extension of visit for any program participants.
Such action does not fulfill the mission of the Amity Institute or the Exchange Visitor program as knowledge and culture of the US is not being transferred back to other countries.
